So, for awhile now (too long really) I had suspected that Parker had an ear infection. Well, I was hoping it might go away without me having to take him in since our insurance isn't covered in FL. So last Tuesday, I decided that I was almost positive he had one (and he had a bit of a fever), so Craig and I took him to a walk-in clinic since we don't have a doctor here. So we waited FOREVER. (We were there 2 1/2 hours!) Well, the doctor looks at his ears and tells me he doesn't have an ear infection. I said something like, "Are you sure? I thought he had one," or something like that. She repeats that he does not have one. So I feel stupid. So then she's looking at him and he is so cranky (mostly because he was tired...and the doctor was scary!) and she's poking at his stomach and he is screaming. So, she thinks something is wrong with his abdomen and orders a blood test. They do that and she comes back in and tells us the results. His white blood count, I think, was sky high. Like it should have been under 10,000, and it was 24.somthing thousand. So she lists all of these serious diseases I've never heard of that he might have and sends us to the emergency room. There is a children's hospital here that's really good, so we head on over there (about an hour away).
By the way, this whole time I am completely scared. The doctor was really worried about him so I'm thinking I should be too. I randomly start crying at sporatic times and the works. Well, we get there and they look at him and guess what it is...drumroll please...an ear infection!! That was why the blood count was high and lalala. I told Craig I should be a doctor. All that for nothing (almost nothing). Really I pretty much laughed (again sporatically) the whole way home because we were so worried and our families were all worried. Talk about a memory. The hospital was wonderful though and we were only in there about 30 minutes-much quicker. I wonder what they thought about that doctor. So there's the latest excitement in the Connolly bunch!

And here's a picture of Parker sporting his hospital bracelet. This is, of course, after we were home and feeling relieved.
P.S. When we went, Parker was 5 months and 2 days and weighed 19 lbs even!! The doctor we first went to told us after she called the hospital about us that she told them she was sending over a 5-month-old line backer. And a nurse at the hospital said something about him being a football player and looked at the size of Craig and I and laughed! He is a chunk!
